Ember Arts Hero | Elena Bondar |
The stories that fashion usually tells are fantasy stories, which are fun and can make us feel good, but sometimes we want to connect to something real.
Ember Arts, a social company based in San Diego, sells beautiful jewelry backed by an amazing true story. Each piece of their colorful paper-bead jewelry is handmade by a small group of women in Uganda, East Africa who survived extreme poverty as refugees in their own country.
Now, thanks to their partnership with Ember, these women are pursuing lifelong dreams: educating their children, building homes for their families, starting their own businesses, and more. They are transforming their families and communities.
Today Ember launched their beautiful Spring Collection for 2012. With the launch they are featuring LA-based social entrepreneur Elena Bondar, who is building a program to support survivors of sex trafficking in Los Angeles. Ember is donating 50% of all their online sales for one month to Elena's organization, Two Wings.
