Inspired by the movie (not the color) Pretty in Pink is a dynamic addition to the Orange County boutique scene. While getting the grand tour by co-owners, Holly Valdez and Danielle Smith, I quickly understood why this edgy yet sophisticated new spot has already gained such a following after being open for only 8 Months. Armed with great style themselves, it's only fitting that these two ladies would have a store with such a variety of exclusive hard-to-find labels, and one of a kind pieces designed by local talent. With a finger on the pulse of the current trend and a great eye for what's to come, this place is sure to be around for a long time.

I felt transported back to 1986 where a boy named Duckie loved a girl named Andie who loved a boy named Blane. Much like our beloved pink wearing redheaded outsider, there is that certain panache that makes this boutique special and easy to fall in love with. Already ahead of the curve and stocked for the pre fall season, I was pleased to see the moto trend in full force with Paris Ultra Skinny Denim by Dish Jeans ($95), a "Tuxedo Style Crop Jacket" ($61) caught my eye next and I instantly wanted to alter all my Boyfriend Blazers into this new style. Known for their acknowledgement of the locally talented, Danielle and Holly directed me to their jewelry case filled with: knuckle rings of stone, earrings of feathers and handmade chains by local designers Korey Fitzpatrick and Paige Sloniker of Kage Jewelry ($40-$75). Another local talent, Lindsey Mickelson creator of CMND-Z is not just a designer, she is an artist; literally! Inspired by her own paintings, the tops she makes are all one-of-a-kind ($35-$52). First on canvas (which are also on installation in this boutique) then on cotton. Using screen printing on a stylized cut as her medium and finished with airbrushing, these garments are truly works of art.
