What to Wear | Velvet

Velvet has many enemies. People who loathe its existence, wish it was never invented, and shudder at the thought of a post-90's velvet revival. I can find that position mildly understandable; sure, there have been some velvet disasters. But for the most part I fall into the velvet-lovers camp because there are also many times when velvet can go so darn right that it's hard to bear any long-standing grudge. If you're a hater, don't turn away just yet - as a 2010 fashion trend, and particularly as one of the major  trends, the velvet revival comes in many forms. You may just be pleasantly surprised.

What to Wear | Tweed

Tweed is an ideal fabric for the fall season. The textured feel and luxurious look create stunning and stylish appeal to any outfit.  The soft woolen fabric is often used to make trousers, skirts, dresses and jackets. Look for tweed designs in earth colors or neutral tones so that it can be mixed and matched with other fashionable clothing items and fabrics.  Another benefit of tweed is that it is a long term fashion item which means it can be worn in the spring, fall and winter for seasons to come. The longevity and versatility of tweed makes it an ideal fabric to splurge on.

Salute to Fall's Military Trend

Left, left, left, right, left… Fall 2010 fashion is upon us and the military trend is on the front lines as the look of the moment. Everything from epaulettes to double breasted brass button closures to the easiest to wear skinny cargo pants, this uniform is here to stay.
Jackets and coats are the easiest way to pull off the Military look and you can opt to go for a more muted version with just brass buttons on outerwear or can go full force with braiding, brass buttons and epaulettes. Just do not under any circumstance go complete GI Jane by matching a jacket with cargo pants. Its best to choose to sport it on either your bottom as in skinny cargo pants or on top. Utilitarian inspired jackets go really well with a more feminine base such as shiny skinny leggings, a frilly dress, or jeans with thigh high boots while skinny cargo pants or a cargo pencil skirt look fabulous with a light weight turtleneck or fitted top with a belted cardigan. For more visual examples on the runway, Michael Kors, Balmain and Dries Van Noten worked this look the best showcasing everything from jackets, belts, shirts, and loose and skinny cargo pants.

What to Wear Today | Rain

It's a comfy cozy day today in Southern California so dress appropriately.  A chunky sweater and leggings hold you over on a couch bound movie day, but throw on some lace up boots, hat and a scarf and you have the perfect outing outfit. Brave those "chilly" elements in style and don't forget your umbrella.

What To Wear | Holiday Cards

In my business I work with a lot of Photographers, not just for editorial shots but also Family Photographers and Wedding Photographers. This week I did a guest post for one of my favorites, Noel Besuzzi and Her Blog. The criteria was to chose outfits for a family, but not your boring standard like denim and khaki or black and white. Here are some outfits I think are ideal...
